In Japan's health insurance system, all individuals eligible for public health insurance can receive medical services at any medical institution, with a co-payment, by paying insurance premiums. Eligible individuals include not only Japanese citizens but also foreign residents who meet specific requirements, such as residing in Japan for more than three months. You can check your health insurance details, such as the Member Code(記号) / Number(番号) , Insurer Number(保険者番号), which were previously listed on the conventional health insurance card, on the Mynaportal(マイナポータル) , Health Insurance Eligibility Information(資格情報のお知らせ), and Health Insurance Eligibility Certificate(資格確認書).
Your insurance card lists your health insurance member code, number, branch number, the name of your insurer, and the insurer number.
If you have a My Number Card, you can check your health insurance member code, number, branch number, the name of your insurer, and the insurer number on Mynaportal.
After logging in, select 'Certificates' > 'Health Insurance Certificate' from the home screen.
The health insurance information on your health insurance certificate will be displayed, so scroll through the screen to check the necessary information.
The timing and content of the Health Insurance Eligibility Information you receive may vary depending on the insurer you are enrolled with. For more details, please check the insurer website or other relevant sources.
There are three types of Health Insurance Eligibility Certificates: card, postcard, and A4 size. Although the format varies depending on the insurer you are enrolled with, the content is almost identical to that of the health insurance card.
